CD Review: Damone – From the Attic
Damone, named after a character from “Fast Times at Ridgemount High,” enters the music scene with “From the Attic.”
The album offers some pop-punk, emphasizing the importance of using a guitar. There are guitar solos in almost every song, and this enhances the quality of the music.
Although guitarist Dave Pino wrote the lyrics, Noelle does a convincing job of adapting the lyrics to fit a female. However, she sounds very shy in her lyrics, which is a perfect for some of the slower songs like “Up to You,” but not a good fit for a song like “Your Girlfriends.”
More and more female singers are fronting rock bands, which could be a trend of more things to come. This definitely is not a negative to the rock scene, but the bands should make sure to get a female with a stronger voice.
