Don’t expect any posing in Nick Cannon’s upcoming self-titled debut album. The actor/singer is aware of his fan base.

“I’m not no thug. I’m on Nickelodeon,” Cannon said at the BET Awards press conference this week. “I’m thug-like. Expect that form of hip-hop from back in the day.”

Cannon is currently in the studio, finishing up the album with P. Diddy. The first single, “Feelin’ Freaky,” is a collaboration with B2K, produced by R. Kelly.

The album is due out August 5.

He is up against Denzel Washington in the Best Actor category at this year’s BET Awards for his work in Drumline.
