Canadian Idol will premiere on CTV on June 11 at 8 PM ET, it was announced today.

The first episode will look closely at the audition process.

Auditions have already been completed in Winnipeg, Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal and Ottawa. Auditions are still to be done in Halifax, St. John’s, and Toronto.

“Our expectation is that Canadian Idol’s ‘Top 10′ finalists will be outstanding and would challenge any other country’s ‘Top 10′ hands down, including America’s,” Susanne Boyce, CTV President of Programming, said in a press release.

The top 100 finalists will travel to Toronto in June, where the judges (Sass Jordan, Farley Flex, Jake Gold and Zack Werner) will narrow the field down to 30. At that point, the television audience votes weekly for the performers that they want to see advance.

The series will wrap up in September.
