Wyclef Signs With J Records
Wyclef Jean has signed a recording contract with J Records. He previously was signed to Columbia Records, but started his own label, Clef Records, imprinted by J in 2000.
“Wyclef is one of those rare cutting edge artists who defines an era,” said RCA Music Group chair Clive Davis. “He?s a young triple threat who has just written some of the best contemporary songs I?ve heard in years. We?ve had worldwide hits together before. I can?t wait to share many more with him.”
Jean, the former Fugee, has already begun working on his first J album.
“Clive Davis, man! He?s the godfather of music,” said Jean. “I hooked up with him so I could be a quadruple threat.”
This will be his fourth solo album, and it is expected to be released in September.
