50 Cent, the rapper who has been shot 9 times, sits atop the U.S. and Canadian record sales charts this week.

His Shady Records debut album, “Get Rich or Die Tryin’,” sold 872,000 copies in the U.S., making it the highest debut for 2003. He also sold 30,000 copies in Canada.

What makes this feat even more spectacular is that the album was released on a Thursday. Albums are usually released on a Tuesday, meaning he missed out on two days of sales which could have increased his totals even more.

The Dixie Chicks’ “Home,” Kid Rock’s “Cocky,” Norah Jones’ “Come Away With Me,” and Avril Lavigne’s “Let Go,” round out the top 5 in the U.S.
