Universal Signs on for Popstars 2
For the second year in a row, Universal Music will distribute the music for the resulting group of the Popstars. This year’s series, premiering on Global in Canada on March 1, will be called ?Popstars II ? Boy Meets Girl.?
?We are thrilled to once again have Universal Music on board. We know each other well and look forward to making this bigger and better than last year?s project,? Vice President of Business Development for Lone Eagle Entertainment, Tom Powers, said in a press release.
Last year’s winners of Popstars was Sugar Jones, who released a platinum selling album. Their future however is unclear.
?Popstars has become a national phenomena in this country. We are thrilled to be working with Universal again on this project and anticipate high demand for the upcoming CD,? said Michael Geddes, President of Lone Eagle Entertainment. Geddes was the man responsible for bringing the international Popstars series to Canada.
