Just this past weekend, building has commenced on an arts center in honor of Tupac Shakur in Stone Mountain, Georgia. According to the Associated Press, family of the late Shakur and political leaders in DeKalb County gathered on Saturday to break ground on the center. The center is expected to open in March of 2003, and will initially feature a performing-arts studio space and an art gallery. Art that various Tupac fans have sent his mother, Afeni Shakur, will be placed all over the walls in the center for the grand opening. The Tupac Amaru Center for the Arts will also feature a garden commemorating Tupac, who was fatally wounded in 1996.
