Poor Lance. Yesterday it was widely reported the ‘N Syncer would be boarding a rocket en route to space in November. A report that could be titled “1 Down, 4 to Go,” might have to wait for a little while longer. Russia’s space agency says Lance Bass will not be travelling to space after all.
It sounds like Rosaviakosmos spokesman Sergei Gorbunov was left out in the cold on this one. “It is as if I said I had bought Australia,” he told Reuters. “Mircorp has no right to sell these flights. They have no link to Rosaviakosmos, we have no contract linking us.” Mircorp is the company who allegedly sold the flight to space to Bass.
Gorbunov goes as far as telling Reuters the whole “Bass to Space” story is just “an advertising stunt, I can promise you. This is better advertising than he could ever pay for.”
There has been no comment as of yet from Bass regarding today’s confusion.
So it appears that there are still “5 to go” … for now.
