The Reading Festival, which was expected to migrate from England this year to Camden, New Jersey, has been canceled. The September 6 show was to feature a vast array of talents including Eminem, Xzibit, and Linkin Park. Organizers said that they didn’t have enough time to fill the 10-hour time slot they allotted themselves for. “Rather than proceeding with a shortened and diluted lineup that does not fully represent the history and reputation of the Reading Festival, we have decided to spend time assembling a more complete lineup for 2002,” promoter Mean Fiddler said in a statement. The cancellation of the festival follows last week’s announcement of additional performers including Adema, Boy Hits Car, Clinic, and Muse. Tickets for the event are being refunded at the point of purchase.
