Paul Cattermole has left S Club 7, in hopes of succeeding in “Skua,” a nu-metal band that he was in while in high school.

“We have all remained good friends and we want to give it a go,” Paul told worldpop about the band. “I was the lead singer for a number of years. The band’s music is a bit nu-metal, like Rage Against The Machine. I want to change musically.”

Meanwhile, S Club 7 will be with Paul while they film a new season of the show and they will perform at a summer concert.

“There’s no hard feelings with the band. It was just time for me to move on. I’ve had an incredible time with S Club 7 but like any job there comes a time for you to leave. Being in the band has been hard work and sometimes while we were away I became depressed. Fame is something I found quite hard to handle.”

The remaining six members have all signed new contracts.
