Nick Carter, who was arrested Wednesday, spoke out about the situation Friday.

“I truly believe my celebrity motivated the officer to arrest me,” he said in a statement. “I am certain that after a full investigation of the facts my name will be cleared.”

The arrest came on suspicion that he refused to follow police officers’ orders to leave a Tampa, Florida nightclub after a fight broke out.
