Lanois and Cohl to Enter Canadian Music Hall of Fame
Daniel Lanois, an award-winning producer, and Michael Cohl, a Toronto promoter, will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at during the 2002 Juno Awards in April, the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) announced this week.
“We are proud to welcome Daniel Lanois and Michael Cohl into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame,” said Ross Reynolds, Chairman of CARAS, in a press release. “Their exceptional talent and inspired vision has helped put Canada at the forefront of the international music industry.”
Lanois was nominated for two Grammy Awards for his work on U2’s “All That You Can’t Leave Behind.”
“Of course, I am delighted and flattered to have been chosen for this honor – and the curious side of me can’t wait to get to St. John’s,” said Lanois.
“It’s very special to be recognized at home. I am thrilled with this award,” said Cohl, who receives the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution to Canada’s $1 billion per year music business.
