All three members of Destiny’s Child will release solo albums in the next year and a half, but they are not breaking up. In fact, the release of their solo albums will be released so far apart to ensure they do not rival each other.

“I wouldn’t want any of my artists to directly compete with each other,” Matthew Knowles said to MTV. Knowles is the group’s manager and father of member Beyonce. “They’re so multitalented that while one’s working TV, the other can be working a record.”

Michelle Williams will be the first member to try her hands at going solo, releasing a gospel album early next year. A duet with Shirley Caesar will appear on the album, called on “Steal Away to Jesus,” a track that will also appear on Caesar’s album, due out October 30.

Beyonce Knowles will not only release a solo album, geared for release next fall, but next week she will announce that she has accepted a role in a major motion picture, her father told MTV. She will film the movie before she records any tunes for her solo-debut.

Kelly Rowland will get to watch her bandmates either succeed or fail before she releases her album in early 2003. Described by Matthew Knowles as an “alternative R&B” style, Rowland will make a guest appearance Nickelodeon’s “Taina,” to be shot in December.

Destiny’s Child will still find time for touring, apparently. They hope to kick it off in March or April of 2002, and hope to visit cities that they did not play in this year. Beyonce’s sister, Solange, will open as well as other artists managed by her father. Solange will release “Solo Star” in February.

Although they are going solo, this does not signal the end of Destiny’s Child, as they hope to stay as a group.
