CD Review: Blu Cantrell – So Blu
The next music superstar has been entrenched in Blu Cantrell.
Her debut album, ?So Blu? was released August 7, 2001. ?Hit ?Em Up Style,? her first single, has been tearing up the radio charts, and has launched the career of this talented singer. The song contains a catchy, jazzy melody, reminiscent of music from the 40s. ?Swingin?? covers the swing-music period, as Cantrell shows she can sing in a low octave. She has another sure hit in ?The One?.
Emotions run rampant in the album, as Cantrell shows rejection, revenge, and hope. She fails in the ballad ?I?ll Find a Way,? where she sings too slow for a song that has uplifting lyrics, but makes up for it with ?When I Needed You.?
With the different styles of music that people of all ages can appreciate, Blu Cantrell has established herself as a singer for the people.
