Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys was arrested early Wednesday morning, on suspicion of refusing to follow police officers’ orders to leave a Tampa, Florida nightclub after a fight broke out.

Carter, 21, was charged with a misdemeanor count of resisting/opposing a law enforcement officer without violence. He was handcuffed and placed in a squad car, before being released on his own recognizance.

His first court appearance is set for March 4, Tampa Police spokesman Joe Durkin said Thursday, according to the AP. Carter was asked to leave 10 times before arrested.

“Outside of who this defendant is, it’s not that unusual a thing to happen,” Durkin told the AP.
