Nona Gaye, daughter of the late classic R&B singer Marvin Gaye, will replace Aaliyah in “The Matrix: Reloaded,” Variety reports.

Gaye, who appeared in “Ali,” will play “Zee” in the sequel to 1999’s “The Matrix.” Before her death, Aaliyah had filmed several scenes for the movie. Gaye also had a part in the “What’s Going On” benefit song.

“Zee” will be introduced in “Reloaded” but will have a bigger role in the third movie in the Matrix series, “Revolutions.” Gaye begins filming her part in Australia next week.

“Reloaded” is scheduled for a May 2003 release and “Revolutions” will follow in November 2003, MTV reports.
