“The Eminem Show” is the highest selling album of 2002, according to SoundScan. The album, by rapper Eminem, sold 7,607,925 copies.

Eminem also helped lead the way for the 8 Mile soundtrack to sell 3.4 million copies, enough for a fifth place finish on the list. Besides starring in the movie, he performed the hit song “Lose Yourself,’ which was included on the album.

Nelly’s second album, Nellyville, sold the second highest (4.9 million), while Avril Lavigne’s “Let Go” finished with a solid third (4.1 million).

Album sales overall were down 10.7% in 2002.
