Rock band Good Charlotte performed an upbeat and captivating show Sunday at Toronto?s Kool Haus to a sold-out audience. GC performed a set of new songs from their freshly pressed CD, “The Young and the Hopeless,” as well as material from their self titled debut CD.

There was a very strong feeling of love and warmth from the fans in the atmosphere on a night where temperatures dipped into the low? well, 0?s. To add to the cold, fans had to wait until 7:45 PM to get into the venue for the show that was supposed to begin at 7:00.

When Good Charlotte took the stage, they all wore traditional punk clothing, and appropriately “spiked” or gelled hair. The stage was decorated with nothing more than two large black vertically standing metal sheets with the GC logo on it. The group performed such songs as the fast paced, “Little Things,” “Hold On,” and their newest hit “Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous.”

The band?s set lasted well over an hour, performing at least 15 songs. Twin brothers Benji (lead guitar, vocals) and Joel (lead vocals), Billy (guitar), and Paul (bass), make up the quartet, who began in the virtually unknown Annapolis, Maryland.

Opening for the band was Auto-Pilot Off, followed by Montreal?s Simple Plan, who repeatedly let the fans know how much Canada meant to them. Simple Plan performed their newest hit, “I?d Do Anything,” as well as their first single, “I?m Just a Kid,” to complete their act.
