Barry White Battling Kidney Failure
Soul singer Barry White is undergoing dialysis and hoping to receive a kidney transplant, his label said Wednesday night.
“Doctors confirm that Barry White has a history of hypertension (high blood pressure), which has led to a decline of kidney function,” a statement by Island Def Jam read. “He has started a course of maintenance dialysis therapy. Once stabilized, he will be a candidate for a kidney transplant.”
A spokesperson said White had suffered kidney failure, the Associated Press reports.
White is best known for his deep, base-like vocals, and for the hit song, “Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe.”
