The Russian Space Agency notified NASA on Monday that Lance Bass of ‘N Sync will not be heading into space. This comes after their announcement last week of the same news, yet Bass’ camp denied the report, insisting the trip could still happen.

$20 million was necessary for Bass to become the youngest person to go into space. Unfortunately for Bass, his sponsors, which included a television producer organizing the efforts, failed to come up with enough.

Monday’s letter, which was sent by a fax written on Friday, officially ended Bass’ hopes of boarding the rocket that will launch on October 28.

“The letter speaks for itself,” said NASA spokeswoman Debra Rahn, according to the Associated Press. “They’ve officially withdrawn Mr. Bass from the flight.”
