Lance Bass Not Going to Space
It appears Lance Bass’ dreams of being the youngest person to be launch into orbit have come to an end, as his sponsors failed to come up with the $20 million necessary, reports the AP.
The ‘N Sync singer was asked to leave Russia’s cosmonaut training program, a Russian space official told the AP.
Sergei Gorbunov, spokesman for the Russian Space Agency, said Bass’ “sponsors didn’t fulfill the conditions of the contract and we never received the money,” adding that they negotiated with Bass “in good faith.”
They had given Bass several extensions to help him get proper funding, but the decision to end negotiations came after “crude violations.”
But Jeff Manber, president of MirCorp, who is helping Bass on his mission, remained optimistic that the space travel was still possible.
“He was training at Star City yesterday. He is not training today, but he will be back there probably tomorrow or the day after,? he told the AP.
