Pepsi Pulls Ad Featuring Ludacris
In a shocking move Wednesday, Pepsi-Cola announced that they would stop airing a 30-second ad featuring Atlanta-rapper Ludacris. This comes just a day after Bill O’Reilley of Fox News asked viewers to boycott the product because of its “immoral” ways for using Ludacris to sell their product.
“I’m calling for all responsible Americans to fight back and punish Pepsi for using a man who degrades women, who encourages substance abuse, and does all the things that hurt particularly the poor in our society,” O’Reilly said.
A Pepsi spokesperson said Ludacris was let go because of consumer complaints about his “sexually explicit, profanity-laden lyrics,” Reuters reports.
“We have a responsibility to listen to our consumers and customers and we’ve heard from a number of people that were uncomfortable with our association with this artist,” the company said in a statement. “We’ve decided to discontinue our ad campaign with this artist and we’re sorry that we’ve offended anyone.”
The advertisement began airing in June, featuring Ludacris drinking Pepsi and rapping.
