Mariah Carey entered her Virgin Records contract with high hopes of continuing her legacy under a new label. Unfortunately for the two parties, her first album for the label, “Glitter,” turned out to be a major flop and Carey’s career was in jeopardy.

After being bought out of her contract (for over $20 million), Carey reached an agreement with Universal Records that will see them distribute her records through Island Records, under hew own label, MonarC Music.

Her first album under MonarC Music/Island Records will be released on December 10, 2002, and the diva has already recorded 20 songs that could be included.

Jermaine Dupri, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, produced some tracks on the yet-to-be-named record.
