The 16th annual Hispanic Heritage Awards are going to take place on Sept. 20th at the John F. Kennedy Center For The Performing Arts and several Hispanic Americans will be honoured this year.

Those Honoured will include speed skater Derek Parra, Theologian Father Virgilio Elizondo, novelist Julia Alvarez, singer Ricky Martin and People En Espanol founder Lisa Quiroz. As well, 6 student winners will alos be honoured.

A one hour special showing of the awards will be shown on Oct 12th on NBC stations around the country.
