R. Kelly Back in Legal Trouble
R. Kelly, who was recently charged with 21 counts of child pornography in Illinois, is being sued again, and once again the key issue in this case is a video tape.
Charles Freeman filed a lawsuit in Jackson County Superior Court in Missouri, suing Kelly for $75,000 for not paying to recover a performance videotape.
A contract signed on August 21, 2001 by a San Francisco private detective hired by Kelly states that he will pay Freeman $100,000 plus up to $40,000 in expenses, on the condition Freeman recovers the stolen videotape. The contract also states that Freeman must perform a polygraph test to make sure there are no other copies, either partly or in it?s entirety, known to be out there. It also states that Freeman must not reveal any details of this to a 3rd party.
Freeman alleges that Kelly only paid him $65,000 and is suing the singer for the remaining $75,000. It is to be noted that this videotape was of an R. Kelly concert, and not the videotapes at the centre of Kelly?s sex scandal.
A grand jury in Chicago recently charged Kelly with child pornography, to which Kelly pleaded innocent to having sex on videotape with a 13-year-old girl.
Right now, I?m sure R. Kelly is praying that his lawyer is ?The World?s Greatest.?
