Mystikal Charged With Rape, Extortion
Rapper Mystikal and two other men were arrested Thursday on charges of aggravated rape and extortion.
Mystikal (real name Michael Tyler) surrendered to police on Thursday and was released on $250,000 bond, the AP reports. The other two men, Leland Ellis and Vercy Carter, remain jailed, after turning themselves in shortly after.
According to authorities, a woman had taken checks out of Mystikal’s account without his permission, and he demanded sex in exchange for him not turning her into the police.
He reportedly raped the woman in front of the two men, and then they did the same
“During the attacks, the victim was repeatedly threatened with prosecution of the checks and great bodily harm. The victim was allowed to leave the residence after the attacks. She was treated and released at a local hospital,” a police statement said.
If convicted of the aggravated rape charge, Tyler would face a mandatory life sentence. The penalty for extortion carries a prison term of one to 15 years, reports the AP.
