Pilot on Aaliyah?s Plane Had Cocaine, Alcohol In System
Almost a year after his death, the pilot of the plane that crashed killing R&B singer Aaliyah, himself and 7 others was found to have cocaine in his urine, as well as alcohol in his stomach. The results from the Bahamas Department of Civil Aviation didn?t say what the content level of either was.
Luis Antonio Morales was also given 3 years probation for possession, 12 days before the crash.
While it may add more to the charges against the pilot and now his family, reports for a long time have said that the Cessna 402-b was dangerously overfilled by 315 kilograms. There were also 9 people on board the flight, when the plane was certified for 8. Also a possibility is that modifications required in August of 1988 to the plane?s fuel-pump wiring may not have been made, though the owner of the jet, though neither Skystream, the owner of the plane, nor Blackhawk International Airways, the company operating it has turned over any maintenance history of the airplane to officials yet.
Aliyah?s parents, Diane and Michael Haughton have filed in lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court, naming Virgin Records, Blackhawk International Airways and numerous video production companies among the defendants.
Shortly after the crash, word came out from witnesses that a frustrated Aaliyah ordered that all equipment be loaded on the plane so she wouldn?t have to have an extra trip back for the rest of the stuff. Since those rumours have since disappeared, they may have been ruled untrue.
