Wyclef blames one cop, not the entire NYPD, for his arrest at last week’s New York rally. Rappers attended the rally, organized by Russell Simmons, to speak out against school budget cuts by Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

When Wyclef got to the rally, police would not let him into the barricaded area.

“I ain’t never had no cuffs on my hands before, at least not that way,” he said to MTV. “The cops was like, ‘I don’t care who you are, get out the way right now.’ I was just like, ‘Alright, let’s go stand here and wait.’ ”

He said the cop was disrespecting him in front of the children. As the cop began yelling, Wyclef starred him down, which prompted the cop to order his arrest.

“I don’t blame the New York City police,” Clef continued. “It was this one guy, I don’t know if he was a sergeant or something. Them cops was like, ‘That’s Wyclef, he did a lot for New York, why we gonna take him? He ain’t doing nothing here.’ ”

He then lay down on the street in “execution-style.”

“I was like, ‘Do whatever y’all gotta do, execute me or bring me to prison. I ain’t leaving here ’til I talk on behalf of the kids.’ “
