Kelly: Truth Will Come Out in Court
R. Kelly, indicted on child pornography charges and arrested Wednesday, is looking at the situation positively. He believes the truth, which he says is his innocence, will come out in court.
“Even though I don’t believe any of these charges are warranted, I’m grateful that I will have a chance to establish the truth about me in a court of law,” the singer said in a statement. “I have complete faith in our system of justice, and I am confident that when all the facts come out, people will see that I’m no criminal.”
FBI forensics experts determined that the people on the tape were Kelly and an underage girl, according to Chicago Police Superintendent Terry Hillard.
Kelly had previously denied that he was the person in the video, but his lawyers said Wednesday that they were taking another stance.
“The charge is that there’s a young lady under the age of 18 on that tape and there isn’t,” said Kelly’s attorney, Ed Genson, according to the AP. “That’s simply the stance that I’m taking. We’re going to court and we’ll disprove that she was underage.”
