Alien Ant Farm frontman Dryden Mitchell is still recovering in Europe, where he injured his back earlier this month in a bus accident in Spain. The singer was put in traction and outfitted with a metal halo that restricts movement in his upper body in a London hospital, MTV reports.

More surgery is likely need for his fractured C2 vertebra, a spokesperson told MTV.

“I’m just so grateful that my injuries aren’t worse,” Mitchell said in a statement. “There will be a lot of rehabilitation and physical therapy, but I’m planning on working hard so the band can get back to writing songs, and then we can get in the studio and record the new album as soon as possible.”

His three bandmates are recuperating at home, the spokesperson told MTV.
