Nickelback Leads MMVA Nominees
June 16 could be the night of Chad Kroeger, unless he pulls and India Airie and comes up with nothing. Kroger, the frontman for Nickelback, leads all candidates with twelve, count em’ twelve, Much Music Video Award nominations. More specifically, he has eight nominations with the band, and four for his duet with Saliva’s Josey Scott on Spiderman’s “Hero.”
Interestingly enough, it is not possible for him to win all twelve awards because in the categories for “Best Video” and “Best Rock Video,” Kroeger is nominated three times (Hero, Too Bad, and How You Remind Me). So unless there’s a three-way tie in those categories, plus a two-way tie in “Best Cinematography” and “Best Post-Production,” the most award he is actually eligible to win is six.
Swollen Members have six nominations, followed by David Usher with five, and Default and Sum 41 with four apiece.
Performers and guests will be announced in the coming days.
A complete list of nominees is available at MuchMusic?s official site.
